Silver or white?

Silver fillings or white fillings? Which one is better?

Silver fillings, also known as amalgam fillings, were widely used over the past century. While they are an adequate way to treat cavities, they can have a negative impact on the appearance of your smile and can actually weaken your teeth. Also, amalgam fillings contain mercury, leading many experts to question their overall safety.

At Lake Family Dentistry, we utilize white or tooth colored fillings, also known as composite fillings, in almost all our patients. This leads to treatment of the cavity without the potential harmful effects of mercury. Tooth colored fillings also leave your smile appearing beautiful and natural without noticeable fillings.
